It never made sense to me how Gohan just wussed out up until super saiyan 2. This dude had no issue whatsoever giving it all he had to the likes of Recoome and Frieza and yet all of the sudden against Cell he’s all “I don’t wanna fight you”? Honestly it just seems like a contrived way to keep Cell in the driver’s seat until super saiyan 2’s reveal

I actually think Goku would win android 18, think about it Goku in dragon ball z was called the greatest martial artist of all time what he doesn't have in strength and speed he would make up for it in techniques we all know that when Goku is backed into a corner when fighting against a stronger opponent he begins to adapt to the opponents fighting style, and finds openings in his opponent he is also shown to use other people's techniques when he is backed into a corner so I think he would be able to actually beat her

@6:58 I disagree with this statement for one unmentioned reason: Android 16. Android 16 made it pretty clear that killing Goku was his primary objective. Whether he'd sit back and let 18 take him on alone or jump in to fulfill his objective is unknown. For that reason, i'd put it at about 50/50 chance for either choice, and say Goku beats 18 in a hypothetical 1/20 times instead of 1/10. The only reason I'm not bringing up 17 is because he and 18, in spite of having the same objective as 16, didn't seem to care as much about it. He might've done the same as in the Vegeta vs 18 fight and stood by to handle any interference

I don't remember Goku using the DD, unless you consider in Tree Of Might where he did something very much like it.

Goku could have used instantaneous movement Kamehameha combo to eviscerate her but he can't sense Android 18 energy.

Goku could’ve used kiaoken while in super saiyan form thus elimination of A18 would be likely.

Gotan and Trunks when they transformed at the world tournament. They were relatively around the same power level as Goku and Vegeta were in the early Android arc.

What if ss4 was a level to reach god of destruction. It being as form that has controlled the pure destructive power of the monkey form. It would make sense for it to be blended with the ultra ego line of power versus the ultra instinct

To be fair, it isn't like all their ridiculous power scaling and technique antics couldn't have made those most basic martial arts principles fade into the background over time. In that light Ultra Instinct becomes less of a repackaging and more of getting back to basics and taking them to their furthest without letting anything else get in the way. Goku attaining a combat enlightment that he'd already basically figured out as a kid is pretty damn appropriate in my opinion. It also lets Roshis use of it feel like much less of an ass-pull. Too bad it wasn't presented that way but I still think it works for us on a metanarrative level.

Another reason Goku gave cell a senzu bean, Cell has Frieza's and Vegeta's DNA inside him, and they are both sore losers. Because of this, if Cell got pummeled, which he did, he would just blow up the planet. And that's exactly what happened between Cell and SSJ2 Gohan

I think my favorite Gohans are during Piccolo training Gohan and future Gohan. The Gohan the fights against all odds. Not just in the moment, but as a lifestyle. From a toddler fighting off dinosaurs to an adult stopping Skynet single handedly (no pun intended)

Thing I find funny about ultra instinct is that it’s main selling point is that it allows the user’s body to react without thinking and people act like that is 100% a good thing. I don’t think a lot of people realize how much of a double edged sword that idea really is. Yes it allows for faster movement and reaction time, however, reacting without thinking opens you up to a greater possibility of making mistakes that you might otherwise not have if your brain was involved in the process. It’s why thinking is a crucial skill to have and operating on pure instinct 100% of the time is generally not a very good idea

Something about this theory I feel should have been mentioned is that since Fusion Reborn is canon to GT (Gogeta already existed, already named, Vegeta not needing to be taught the dance etc) and since Gogeta in that movie forms from 2 base form Saiyans fusing, and starts as a Super Saiyan, then it's possible that 2 Super Saiyan 4s fusing made a Super Saiyan 5 when factoring in that fusion allows Gotenks to become Super Saiyan 3 while Goten and Trunks individually cannot. Incidentally, Elder Kai knowing about Super Saiyan 4 makes me think that during the time between Z and GT, he visits the Time Nest and gets roped into working with the Time Patrol for a bit.

Im going to be dead honest, i think they used the Jackie chan approach. Go watch Jackie chans original movies from the master with cracked nuckles to drunken Master. He used to be portrayed as amazing and a true genius. Since the mid 90s hes all comedy and acts aloof. I think they followed the same script recipe in hopes it would draw entertainment.

The fact that somehow in Super there is the narrative that Goku STILL needs to learn FUNDA-FUCKING-MENTALS is insane. This is a dude who has trained since he was a 4 yr old. His entire life, friends, family, purpose in life has been ALL about fighting. And HE DOESN'T REMEMBER THE FUNDAMENTALS?!?!?!?!?! Goku has schrodinger OP power. He simultaneously is and IS NOT the most powerful, he is and is NOT a Master. He is whatever the writters demands he is.

I mean, you are entirely right. Goku gained about 47.15 PL per day he was on king kais(158 days). Meaning math wise Piccolo would have only gained 282.91 or so. Even assuming he can train harder due to a higher starting level(Roughly 6 times that of Gokus start when he trained on KK's planet) would only be roughly a 1700 increase. Multiplying it ten times would still only net him roughly 20.5k or so. The thing is Piccolo doesn't even looked even slightly phased by x10 gravity, hes floating and taking a f-ing nap lol. It makes 0 sense(Goku gets a pass in his 100x gravity because he Zenkaied like a madman). If he is 20.5k and nails boost is close to that of super saiyan he would be roughly on par with form 2 Freeza. You estimate of it being a total scaling asspull might be right.

Also Trunks fighting style is just very green. Vegeta is a pressure fighter while trunks is closer to a janky version of Gohans style(which is a combination of Piccolo and Goku's). That said, if Trunk was using a style that was more acclimated to heavy countering then he would do MUCH better in grade 3(IE Tien's style of fighting crane school). He lacks the experience, a solid foundation to work with and a training partner that actually cares. Hes not"weak" in any sense of the word, but say if Krillin, Yamcha or Piccolo scaled to his power they would absolutely destroy him in a fight, though experience alone.

And another interesting theory/possibility regarding to the fight if Raditz like you said got seriously injured and still won the fight by killing Goku, Gohan and Piccolo. He could use his ship that was still intact to fly off to get medical treatment right away at Frieza's base or the closest station he knows. Raditz would have returned to earth with both Vegeta and Nappa, killed everyone on earth including the other Z-Warriors because they wasn't prepared and unaware of the fate of the earth and planet existences. And they would have sold the planet off to Frieza. Since that what Saiyans due they kill all the planets inhabitants and sell the planet itself.

The thing is, the moment Goku achieves a new transformation it is ONLY to beat the new opponent of the week. Next week the enemy HAS to be stronger. Enemies no longer reflect the arc they are in or the characters. Now they are numbers to beat. This is why Beerus and Broly are the WORST thing that DB has brought in terms of power scalling.

Ssj3 is a waste of a form that why he don't use it
